Common Questions about Hard Wood Flooring Installation and Repair.

What is the difference between a Solid Wood, Engineered Wood and Hard Flooring?

Hard Wood Flooring: Containing several layers of pressed particle board, Hard Wood flooring boards are topped with a wood grain photograph and do not contain  any actual solid wood.
They are usually installed using a "Click-n-Lock" or "Snap-Together" installation.

Solid Wood Flooring: The name say's it all. Generally speaking, solid wood flooring board is a 3/4” thick piece of solid wood that is usually installed by a staple or nail down application.

Engineered Wood Flooring: This Flooring type is made up of several layers of real wood veneers which run in the opposite directions. Alternating the layers keep the wood from shrinking or expanding. Engineered Wood floors are ideal for areas of high humidity or dramatic temperature changes and are usually installed using glue, nail or staple.

What is a "Floating" Wood Floor?

With a Solid Wood Floor, the boards are fastened to the sub-floor usually by nails. With an Engineered or Hard Floor, the panels can be installed without being fastened to the sub-floor. The panels are held together by a "Tongue & Groove" connection that is engineered into the panels. The floor is then held in place by its own weight. Floating Floors are ideal if your sub-floor is uneven.

How do I know which flooring type is best for my home?

As you can see, there are several types of wood floorings to choose from and a number of factors that should be considered before making a decision. We will discuss all the options and walk you through the process of choosing the Wood Flooring type that is right for both your home and budget.

We can supply standard and custom designs of inlays and borders for your hardwood flooring.  To the right is a wildlife design of wolves, mountains, and trees.  Call us with your ideas to see if we can earn your business.

Bellawood Engineered Flooring Manufacturer

Engineered flooring is a versatile wood flooring alternative because of its stability. Wood always expands and contracts across the width of the planks when subjected to changes in humidity. When engineered flooring is constructed, the layers of wood are stacked in opposite directions which cause them to counteract each other's movements when humidity changes occur. This cross-ply construction method creates a floor product that is dimensionally stable. Therefore, it can be installed over concrete slabs below ground level, as well as anywhere else in the home.

Northern Hardwood Planks: Engineered Flooring Manufacturer

The best selection and the best quality — at the best price you're ever likely to find! Locally milled, our slow-growing, super-durable northern native species of high-quality wood floor planks are available in widths from 3" to 17". Not all hardwoods are created equal. Here in upstate New York, where County Floors is located (just hours away from the Canadian border), there's something about our short summer growing season and long, cold, harsh winters that makes for an extremely hardy tree — and a very durable wood.

Reclaimed and Rustic Hardwood Flooring: Engineered Flooring Manufacturer

In November of 2001, the company began doing business as (DBA) Yesteryear Floorworks Company. Their intent was to expand into the non-recycled wood flooring products market while continuing to promote the Aged Woods reclaimed hardwood brand that customers have grown to desire in their homes.
